5 Members Of Notorious Armed Robbery Syndicate Busted By Police

Police operatives from the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, have busted five members of notorious armed robbery syndicate, who had been operating and terrorizing innocent people in the city over a period of time.

P.M.EXPRESS reports as was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bala Ciroma, while briefing Jjournalists at the FCT Command.The Police Boss said the five suspects were arrested in connection with the death of one Mohammed Danjuma, whose remains were recovered around Gwagwa-Kagini axis of Abuja, on 16th March, 2020.
The names of the suspects were not disclosed by the CP because investigation was still going on over the matter.However, he said that  preliminary findings revealed that the deceased boarded the syndicate’s cab as a passenger from Berger to Tipper Garage, Katampe.
“The findings indicated that he was diverted by his assailants to an unknown destination where he was attacked with wheel spanner. The deceased was also robbed of his valuables, including his ATM card which was subsequently used by the gang to withdraw money from his bank account” he said.
He said that the suspects were members of a notorious armed robbery syndicate that poses as cab operators to rob their victims.Ciroma said exhibits recovered from the suspects were golden coloured Mazda 626 car with registration number, KWL-132 CN and Mazda 323 with registration number, CF 123-KSF.The CP said operatives from the Command, acting on intelligence, also led operations that arrested 12 suspects in connection to kidnapping activities around Bwari, Abaji and Kwali axis of Abuja. He said the operatives dismantled some hideouts used by kidnapping syndicates in the areas.He said items recovered from the suspects were 17 rounds of live ammunition, four dane guns, one locally made pistol and four mobile phones.Other recovered item are two military camouflage uniforms and caps, one motorcycle, five ATM cards and two sim-packs and cards.CP Ciroma said that the suspects will be charged to Court after the completion of investigations on the matter.
