In light of the recent unfounded allegations spread by mischief makers regarding the amendment of the ANSIEC law, it is crucial to clarify the facts to Ndi Anambra, countering the misinformation disseminated by a few rumormongers.
Firstly, under the visionary leadership of Rt. Hon. Somto Udeze, the 8th Anambra State House of Assembly has been the most productive in the State’s history. Within just one year, this Assembly has passed 16 bills, enacted over 60 resolutions, and addressed more than 15 petitions impacting various socio-economic sectors in our State. These achievements are unparalleled and have been accomplished with unwavering commitment to the welfare and progress of Ndi Anambra.
Contrary to the false narratives being peddled by a few unscrupulous individuals who thrive in chaos, the amendment to the ANSIEC law was executed with due diligence and in strict accordance with legislative procedures. These amendments are designed to uphold the integrity of the electoral process and safeguard the interests of Ndi Anambra against any attempts to manipulate or undermine them. The allegations that the Assembly was coerced or that the process lacked transparency are completely baseless and stem from a misunderstanding—or deliberate misrepresentation—of legislative practices.
It is disheartening these individuals and their associates have chosen to ignore the remarkable contributions of this Assembly to the State, opting instead to spread misinformation when their personal interests are threatened. The amended ANSIEC law is a testament to the Assembly’s dedication to fairness, transparency, and the rule of law, ensuring that the selection of candidates for the upcoming local government elections is free from undue interference or bias.
We urge the public to remain vigilant against such disinformation and to continue supporting the Anambra State House of Assembly as we tirelessly work to promote the best interests of our dear State.
In conclusion, the Anambra State House of Assembly remains steadfast in its constitutional mandate and will not be swayed by baseless accusations. The 8th Assembly stands firm in its resolve to serve the people of Anambra with integrity and dedication.
