Imo PDP Should Draw A Line Between Propaganda And Sedition

We have read the so called lectures presented by PDP “leaders” to Imo youths on Friday, December 17, 2021, during the end of year party and symposium organised by the Media Team of Hon. Jones Onyereri, over and over again.

It is unfortunate that the PDP could come together and all they could tell Imo youths was how to topple the Government. The PDP gathered vulnerable, misguided, ill-opportuned, misled and ill-advised youths and lied to them about how soldiers were busy killing Imo youths and urging them to rise up and fight to remove the Government.

Speakers upon speakers talked about using ‘what looks like the truth and what the people want to hear to fight the government’. A certain speaker, obviously for want of what to tell his audience, went on a wild goose chase, lied to the youths and misled them. In his menial, pedestrian, childish, beginner-like “lecture”, he conjured up figures of how soldiers were killing all the youths. He managed to cite five cases but erroneously concluded that hundreds of Imo youths have been killed.

He said: These few instances promoted above are just happenstances against the Nigeria Youths by agents of government, who are being paid with our collective resources and wealth,….While many of our youths are daily being slaughtered by those who are supposed to protect us”.

He added: “Beginning from their failed rabbit infested empowerment propaganda, to their 15,000 audio youths relief program, our youths in Imo have been at the receiving end of brutal killings, illegal arrests, detentions and extortions from state actors. It is most rather unfortunate that those elected to speak for us chose to go dumb, while on our graves, the dance of Atiliogwu has continued.”

One therefore, asks whether the PDP’s symposium was held to exonerate the bandits, make excuses for them and put the blame on the Government. We think this was deliberate, because no where did any of the “lecturers” mention the insecurity in the State, which of course is perpetrated by youths, and what the Government is doing to address the situation. Nowhere did any of them urge the youths to shun violence and imbibe peace.

It is shocking that the PDP could organise “a symposium” in Owerri without offering a moral compass but ended up inciting the youths against the Government.

This is sedition. It is not propaganda.

We had raised the alarm that the PDP was radicalising in Imo youths. We think the Friday lectures provide ample evidence. We also think that Imo PDP and their leaders may know what we don’t know about the insecurity going on in the State. And it’s high time they told us what they know.
