How DPO, Ojajuni Received Another Beating From Tricycle Rider

The Divisional Police Officer, Aswani Division, Lagos State Command, SP Adeleke Ojajuni, has received another serious beating after he was brutally attacked and injured by a tricycle rider while controlling traffic on the highway.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the beating took place at Isolo/Mushin Road area of Lagos State, where SP Ojajuni went to control traffic with his officers.
The suspect, a 35-year old tricycle operator, Sakiru Kasali, has been arrested and charged before the Court for serious assault on SP Ojajuni.
The suspect was said to have rode against traffic while the DPO was trying to decongest and control traffic in the area. The DPO directed him to go back and follow the right lane but he refused and insisted that he will not do so.
He was then apprehended and in the process he grabbed the DPO, assaulted him, tore his clothes, smashed his Walkie talkie belonging to the Nigerian Police and threw it away.
However, he was overpowered and eventually taken to the Police Station. Subsequently, he was arraigned before the Isolo Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr. Oje Uagbale, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that he accentually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Akokhia, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
He was remanded at Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 5th May 2022, for mention.
While the defendant was being taken into custody, he said he did not know that the officer he assaulted was the DPO and when he later realized, he had already assaulted him stating that he would have done such to any other Police officer apart from the victim because of the disturbances the Police were giving tricycle operators in the area.
