The Night House

An ancient book once noted, “The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it”. But in our very situation, the darkness has exhaustively understood the light. With the same method, criminal politicians would manipulate the public repeatedly for selfish political gains. They would financially buy public conscience to either secure or maintain a position of authority and loot the public wealth therein. They would use tribal, political party faithfulness, region or religious sentiments as baits to woo public support in order to dwarf transparent meritorious leadership election processes.

Many of the populace would adopt ignorant views and give their votes to wrong leaders. How can I leave a man from my tribe in favour of another? Someone we share same religious faith with? I believe with him I will be closer to the corridor of power in order to have a bite of my own portion of the national cake. Point of views that are inimical to our collective positive advancement as a People. There is no darker darkness as that of ignorance. It is a hellish darkness that fuels self inflicted pains. It makes one a wheelbarrow in the hand of another. You will be operating with another person’s mind believing that you are using your own. Ignorance makes one to lose total control of the vehicle of his or her destiny.

Our deformation as a nation is birthed by the hellish ignorance resident in the minds of the majority of our people.

The majority of our elites, who ought to be role models for good behaviours, have been overtaken by greed, dragging everything to themselves at the detriment of others. What a slave mentality (void of the true glory of education) that uncontrollably roars for unnecessary materialism instead of the pragmatism of being a societal keeper!

With loss of value for human life and the militancy of insecurity tormenting the tranquility of my dear people, Nigeria could best be described as THE NIGHT HOUSE, the house of horrors and of doom, for darkness has once again cover the face of our own portion of the earth.

Incomprehensible wickedness everywhere! Tribal and religious bigotry growing here and there, fueling cruelty, disunity, distrust and deaths.

The cardinal reason why we found ourselves, and are caged in dehumanizing and nightmarish situation is that the majority of our elites, who ought to lead the way for a better society have chosen the way of greed, instead of spreading the lights of quality lifestyle so bright for others to see and discover the little moral oil needed for their individual lamps.

The elites are assumed to be superior in thoughts and nobility than other groups. It is the responsibility of the elites to promote, preserve, defend nobility and maintain high standards in our fast degenerating societies. Many look at them to know the next step to take in life. It is the corrupt practices of the majority political elites that brought about the disunity, economic hardship and the insecurity bedeviling us presently. They are wolves in animal pen. The bigger thieves.

It is high time we addressed the source of our problems by AGITATING FOR DEATH PENALTY FOR CORRUPT PUBLIC OFFICE HOLDERS if we truly yearn for a positive transformation in our society.
