Police operatives from Commissioner of Police Strike Squad of the Lagos State Command have arrested two suspected kidnappers, who conspired and abducted a victim, Linus Okoh and obtained the sum of N5m ransom before he was released from captivity.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ikotun area of Lagos, where the victim was abducted and detained at an undisclosed location.
The suspects were Ekoh Tochukwu, 27 and Ebenezer Chidibe, 29.
The suspects were said to be members of the proscribed Eiye Confraternity, who got broke financially, then planned with others now at large and abducted the victim.
However, after the victim was released, he reported to the Police, who moved into action,  trailed and arrested the suspects while their other accomplices were said to be at large and wanted by the Police.
It was during interrogation that the suspects were said to have  confessed and mentioned some of their members at large. It was also during the investigation that the Police discovered that they were members of the cult group, who had formed themselves into a kidnapping syndicate for ransom.
Having been found culpable, they were subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
They pleaded not guilty before Court when they were arraigned.
The prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, moved a motion asking the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A Layinka, granted them bail and remanded them in custody pending when they will perfect their conditions while the matter was adjourned till 3rd August, 2022, for mention.
