Ahead of the 2023 population and housing census, the APGA Candidate for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in the forthcoming general election, Chief Ikenna Iyiegbu, has harped on the need for ndi Anambra to take census as a serious business.

Chief Iyiegbu, who was addressing the media in Awka shortly after the Anambra State Stakeholders Summit on the 2023 population and housing census, said that having the demographic data will help place Anambra State and indeed Nigeria on the pedestal of sustainable development.

He advised that more sensitization programmes should be organized especially at the rural areas to help achieve results while pointing out that census is very key at every level of decision making in Nigeria.
He called on ndi Anambra to rise to the occasion as there is great need for all hands to be on deck.

Hon Iyiegbu commended Governor Soludo for his efforts towards ensuring that ndi Anambra are counted, including those living outside the state. He further called on the census umpire to live up to expectations by conducting a digital census that will be anchored on credibility, reliability and acceptability.
Iyiegbu, who viewed the summit as apt, promised to further drive the message down to community level to encourage total participation.

The event was attended by critical stakeholders in the state including the traditional rulers led by Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, President Generals led by the National President, Anambra State Association of Town Unions, Barrister Titus Akpudo, Women Leaders, Civil society groups, government functionaries, among others.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim also attended the event.
