Fuel Subsidy: Industrial Court Restraints NLC From Proceeding On Strike

Following the directive by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, for workers to proceed on strike from Wednesday to protest the removal of the fuel subsidy, the Industrial Court sitting in FCT, Abuja, has issued an interim restraining order against the proposed strike action.
 
The Industrial Court on Monday stopped their members, their agents, workmen, servants, proxies or affiliates from embarking on the planned industrial action pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.
The counsel to the Federal Government had pointed out to the Court that the proposed strike action is capable of disrupting economic activities, the health sector and the educational sector.
Following the citing of the provisions of Section 7(b) of the National Industrial Court Act 2006, the Presiding Judge, Justice O. Y. Anuwe, fixed 19th June, 2023, for the hearing of Motion on Notice.
