A 17-year old boy, Wasiu Segun, has landed in trouble for allegedly cutting off flyover bridge protective metal rails at Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, in order to sell as scrap before he was caught.

The Police alleged that the suspect had gone to the bridge on 1st June, 2023, in the early hours of the morning and cut off the protective rails with a sharp object and was escaping to go and sell them.
He however, was unlucky while he was trying to escape as security guards within the Airport area accosted him and handed him over to the Police for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
During interrogation, Segun reportedly admitted to have done so and informed the Police that he wanted to sell them to scrap dealers, who had promised to buy them in order to raise some money to resolve his financial challenges.
He explained that he had actually cut off the rails before he was accosted by the security guards who handed him over to the Police.
Having been found culpable, the Police subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the prosecutor will present the facts of the matter and he will be sentenced accordingly.
