President Muhammadu Buhari has convened an emergency meeting on Tuesday with service chiefs and his National Security Adviser without the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris in attendance.

Those at the meeting held behind closed doors included the Minister of Defense, retired Brig. Mansur Dan-Ali and the National Security Adviser (NSA), retired Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the meeting was also attended by the Director General of the State Security Services (SSS), Lawal Daura, the acting Director of the Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA), Amb. Arab Yadam, and a police representative.

Also at the meeting were: Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin; Chief of Army Staff, Major-Gen. Tukur Buratai; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas and the Chief of Air Staff, AVM Sadique Abubakar.

However, tongues have been wagging why the IGP was not at the meeting but represented.

It was learnt that police boss has travelled out of the country to Cartagena City of Colombia, in South America, where he was attending the International Congress on Kidnapping and Extortion.

The IGP has been in the eyes of the storm with series of allegations levelled against him by a serving senator, Isah Misau.

This has forced many to call for his investigation including the Senate that has already set up a committee to look into allegations against the Police boss.
