NYG Day 3: Team Lagos Floors Delta, Sweeps Gold In Table Tennis Doubles

Team Delta could not withstand the fires in the players of Lagos State when the game got hotter in the finals of table tennis boys and girls doubles decided at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in the ongoing 7th National Youth Games (NYG) 2023 in Asaba Delta State.

The boys and the girls from Lagos were adjudged the best in the doubles as they trounced Team Delta players to scoop the gold medals of that events.

For the duo of Musbau Faisat and Rabiu Aishat, it was one sided affairs in the 3-0 victory over the girls from Delta State, Adebakin Tobi and Sodiq Adesanya were a bit stressed by their opponents from Delta, but Lagos prevailed with 3-1 victory that sent the hall into wild jubilation by the fans and players of Team Lagos.

Adesanya who spoke for his colleague, Adebakin described the victory as a dividend of hard work and training they hard before coming for the games, adding that despite the noise of the fans of Delta State, he and his colleague were not intimidated but focused on the game which paved the way for the win.

Rabiu Aishat said the girls doubles victory is a prelude of what will happen in the final of girls’ singles on Tuesday which she would be participating.

Coach Ganiyu Kadiri was full of praises for the boys and girls from Lagos who he described as good fighters.

“These boys and girls made me proud. I am so happy and thankful to God for giving us this golden victory in the doubles events today. More gold medals are coming from my players in table tennis in our games on Tuesday,” Coach Kadiri said.
