The National President of Orashi National Congress, Most Snr. Comrade Emeni Ibe, has condemned in the strongest terms the alleged assassination attempt on the new Honourable Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the ugly incident took place yesterday evening. But it could not be ascertained if there were damages or casualties during the invasion.
The residence of the New Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ehie Edison, Esq, DSSRS, was said to have been invaded by some gunmen in an assassination attempt, which is not unconnected with the recent developments in Rivers State and his strong support for the Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
Reacting to ugly development, the National President of Orashi National Congress, Comrade Emeni Ibe, said, “I must state unequivocally that the invasion of the residence of Honourable Speaker, Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, is condemnable”.
“The Orashi National Congress and Southern Youth Foundation of Nigeria have been at forefront of initiatives towards improving the situation in the region and the nation at large. Since the recent political developments in Rivers State, we have charged all stakeholders to tow the paths of peace and the Rule of Law.”
“I therefore, condemn the assassination attempt on our representative and leader, Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie. I hereby call on the new Police Commissioner and other security agencies in Rivers State to properly investigate the invasion and assassination attempt and bring the perpetrators and masterminds to face the full wrath of the Law. We must at all times no matter the height of provocation or inducement respect the sanctity of life. We need development to reach the grassroots but the spate of ugly incidents will not allow for genuine development to thrive. And so, we must shun violence at all costs. Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie deserves our support to deliver quality representation to our people.”
