Ojodu LCDA Commences Desilting Operations On Aina Street

Posted on June 17, 2024

Ojodu LCDA, Lagos State, has embarked on desilting operations at Aina Street, a significant initiative aimed at mitigating flooding and improving sanitation around the area.

The project involves the removal of accumulated silt, debris, and waste from the drainage systems along Aina Street, which has been a recurrent issue causing severe flooding during the rainy season.

The desilting operations are part of a broader environmental management strategy by the Ojodu LCDA, which includes regular maintenance of drainage systems, waste management and public awareness campaigns about environmental sustainability.

Hon. Segun Odunmbaku urged residents to support the efforts by ensuring proper disposal of waste and avoiding actions that could block the drainage channels.

Community members have expressed optimism about the project, noting its potential to significantly reduce the inconvenience and health hazards associated with blocked drains.

“We are very pleased with the council’s decision to address this issue. It has been a long-standing problem and we hope this effort will bring lasting relief,” said Mrs. Adeola Ajayi, a resident of Aina Street.
