New Registration & Certification Procedures For Mining To Recommence In Anambra State

To enable mining activities to recommence at different sites in Anambra State, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR, Governor of Anambra State, has approved new registration and certification procedures before prospective Miners can resume operations.

 

According to Sir Paul Nwosu, the Honourable Commissioner for Information, the procedures are as follows:

 

1. Registration and documentation will be done at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources.

 

2. Verification of documents will be done by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Anambra State Solid Minerals Development Company and Ministry of Environment.

 

3. Screening will be done by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Anambra State Solid Minerals Development Company, Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Justice.

4. Confirmation will be done by Anambra State Mining Reforms Committee.

 

5. Approval will be given by the *Governor of Anambra State*

6. Clearance to operate will then be issued by the Anambra State Mining Reforms Committee.

 

Except these procedures are complied with, no Miner will be allowed to operate in Anambra State.
