ECN Boss, Dr Mustapha Abdullahi Attends USA-Nigeria Energy Security Dialogue In Washington DC

The Director-General/Chief Executive Officer, Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, is billed to attend a 3-day Energy Security Dialogue in Washington DC, United States of America.
The event, which is conveyed at the instance of the United States of America’s Department of State on Energy Resources after its recent visit to Nigeria, was organised in conjunction with the Ministry of Petroleum Resources to address the country’s energy quagmire.
Dr. Abdullahi is part of the 14-man delegation from Nigeria to the all-important event where issues appertaining the energy sector will be laid bare for critical discussion. The event which starts from Tuesday, September 10 through Friday, September 13 is expected to feature selected Ministers and other Heads of Goverment Agencies share their knowledge and experience on the critical sector of the economy – the energy sector.
Earlier in June, the US delegation to Nigeria, led by Assistant Secretary for Energy Resources, Geoffrey R. Pyatt, had announced the formation of an Energy Security Dialogue with Nigeria to advance collaboration on both countries shared energy and climate goals. The dialogue, was said would bring together the combined resources of the U.S. government to engage with its Nigerian counterparts on issues including energy access, energy security, decarbonization, clean energy supply chains, and methane emissions reduction.
According to the US Energy expert, home to Africa’s largest democracy, population, and economy, Nigeria plays a key role in the global energy transition. The United States, he said, would therefore commit to Nigeria’s success in achieving its energy and climate goals and looks forward to hosting
During the dialogue, Dr. Abdullahi is therefore expected to engage with the audience on the Energy Commission’s mandate, the critical role the Commission plays in advancing the energy cause in sub-saharan Africa as well as his milestones in the last 10 months since taken over as the honcho of the country’s lead agency in the energy sector.
