Oyegbola-Sodipo: This Is ‘Our Win’ To Continue Good Work of Governor Dapo Abiodun

Being the acceptance speech by Hon. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo following his nomination as the Chairmanship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Abeokuta North Local Government for the forthcoming Local Governorship Election in Ogun State on Saturday, 28 September 2024.

Esteemed leaders and chieftains of our great party – the All Progressives Congress (APC) – at the State, Local Government and Ward levels, fellow aspirants, faithful party members, and good people of Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

I am deeply honoured and humbled to stand before you today, accepting my nomination as the All Progressives Congress Consensus Candidate for the forthcoming Local Government Election scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024.

 

First, I want to express my profound gratitude to Almighty God and to our indefatigable No.1 leader of the party in the Gateway State, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Our party Chairman and the Executives, leaders of our party in Abeokuta North LGA under the chairman of Alhaja Faidat Akintunde Sarumi, My Egbon Hon. Yemi Adelani the powerful organizing secretary of our great party, my leaders in ward 1 Althaji Isiaq Adesanya, Hon Lukmon Femi Adiro, Dr Ogungbe, Hon Wole Ayorinde, Alhaji Garuba, Alhaji Semiu (Agbada) and my beloved mom Dr Abisola Sodipo-Clarke.

 

To my leaders across the Local Government from the leading leader Hon Kunle Adeshina, Engr Seni Ayorinde, Senator Lanre Tejuoso, Princess Ogunremi, High Chief Bode Mustapha, Ambassador Tunji Ishola (STI), Alhaji Ajao Bakai Okedara, Alhaji Abdul-Rasak Tokunbo Legele, Hon Abeeb Ajayi, Prince Tunde Tella, Hon Ifekayode Akinbode, Hon Ganiyu Ademuyiwa, Hon Fatai Ajigbare and numerous others that time and space will fail me to individually mention their names, I say I am most grateful.

 

I also want to acknowledge and thank my fellow champions who aspired to serve our people in Abeokuta North LGA: Hon Olayiwola Ojodu, Hon Sulaiman Sanni, Hon Monsuru Abioye, Hon Olumuyuwa Fajimi, Hon Taiwo Egbeyemi, Engr Tajudeen Ishola, Alhaji Akeem Oluseye, Hon Nasiru Abiodun, Hon Yomade Biobaku, Hon Olawale Bello, Engr Tunde Okedara

Alhaji moruf Adekunle, Alhaja Mutiat Lawal, Hon Dipo Ogunyemi, Hon Adekoye Oluwole, Hon Bayewunmi Olawale and my dear brother Engr Shokunle Afeez for their demonstration of good sportsmanship. For me, we are all WINNERS.

 

My nomination as the APC standard-bearer and flag bearer is an enormous responsibility which I have accepted with every sense of gratitude and responsibility. Thank you all for your trust that you have placed in me. Your confidence in my ability to lead and serve our great party is a responsibility I take seriously, and I pledge to work tirelessly to justify this trust.

 

As we move forward, I assure you that our focus will be on the issues that matter most to our community: economic empowerment, improved infrastructure, qualitative and formative education, enhanced healthcare, growth and development, and improved well-being for our people at the grassroots. When elected into office by the grace of God, we will be working with all the stakeholders to do everything possible to deepen the policies of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON at our local government. We will accelerate the “Omo Ogun ISEYA” agenda to further expand the rapid transformation of every nook and cranny of Abeokuta North Local Government. Through the implementation of the “Sogbe Digboro” mantra, capacity development for our youth, agriculture and rural development will form the core of our cardinal programme of our administration.

 

Let me further assure you all today that this common stand that we all made is our shared heritage; it is not about me in person, but our collective will to promote the common good of all. We will work together to build a better future for all, ensuring that no one is left behind.

 

I also want to acknowledge the giants on whose shoulders we stand. Our party’s legacy of progress and development is one we will continue to uphold.

 

To my fellow aspirants and those that have served and still serving both our party and our people at the grassroots unrelenting, and also showed interest in serving the people by being a part of this electoral process, I offer my sincerest appreciation for your commitment to our party’s ideals. Your passion and dedication are essential to our collective success.

 

Let us unite, work together, and move forward with a common purpose. We will engage, listen, and respond to the needs of our people, ensuring that our local government becomes a beacon of hope and prosperity.
