A 43-year old man, Anthony Akajiaku, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly abducting his two kids, Emmanuel,5 and Chizeranm,3 while claiming that his wife, Chinyere, denied him of sex for several months.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 30th September,2024 at Oladele Street, White sand in Isheri Oshun area of Lagos, where they reside.
He was charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and abduction under the Criminal Laws of the State.
According to the embittered wife,  on the particular day the abduction took place,  her husband told her that he wanted to take the kids to his own church and she had no objections because they had no recent serious quarrel except his heavy drinking attitude, which  she claimed was affecting her own life whenever they engaged in sex.
She said that when she returned from her own church, he discovered that her husband had carried most of the properties in the house and went away including the church’s money she kept in her room alongside the children.
She narrated that she tried to contact him but his phone was switched off. She then called her husband’s relatives including his twin sister, Rose Chiedu, who lives with her husband at Ajao Estate but she snubbed her. She said it was through Rose Chiedu’s husband that she knew that her husband kept the children in her house and she made efforts to reach Rose to no avail. She narrated that the frustration led her to contact the human rights group led by Comrade Saviour Iche and the matter was reported to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division.
The suspect, Anthony Akajiaku, was later arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct. And while there, he reportedly admitted to have taken the children away to his relatives in Aba because his wife was no longer interested in the marriage as she had starved him of sex for several months.
The DPO,  SP Ozoma Martins, released his on bail and directed him to produce the children at the station but he refused and was consequently charged before the Court for the alleged offence.
