An imposter and self acclaimed Lagos Igbo Speaking Community President,  Chief Okenze Tochukwu Anadu, has been remanded in prison custody as Police intensified efforts to arrest his secretary, Chief Malachy Nwanosike, now on the run over alleged criminal conspiracy in the State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Chief Anadu was arraigned before Bode Thomas Magistrate Court in Lagos for allegedly arranging with his group including his Secretary, Chief Nwanosike, to assault a foundation member of Igbo Speaking Community, Apapa Iganmu, Chief Kingsley Anyanwu, during their General Meeting at Orile area of Lagos.

Police operatives from the Orile Division arrested Chief Anadu after he allegedly assaulted Chief Anyanwu, ordered members of his group to carry him out of the meeting and throw his red cap on the floor.

In the process of the alleged assault, Chief Anyanwu reportedly collapsed and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where he was revived.

Trouble was said to have started after Chief Anadu, who was the Chairman of the Igbo Speaking community, Apapa Iganmu, connived with one Chief Sunday Eze, rebeled against the BOT led by Dr Jonathan Nnaji, formed factional Igbo Speaking Community and he was declared president.

However, the members at Apapa Iganmu rejected him and insisted that they will follow Chief Sunday Udeh, who is recognized by the BOT. Since then, he became violent and started attacking the elders in the group who opposed him.

According to the victim, Chief Anyanwu,  trouble started on 20th October, 2024, when Anadu wanted to preside over their meeting and one of the founding members, Chief Damian Umeh and the elders asked him that since he is the president of his own group, he should hand over to his Vice, Chief Paul Chima.

But he refused, which caused uproar at the meeting. When Chief Anyanwu raised his hand to contribute to the meeting,  he insisted that he will not talk because he does not recognize him as a member because he identified with Chief Udeh.

It was in the midst of the situation that Anadu got up with his secretary and others, assaulted Chief Anyanwu, carried him up and threw him on the ground with his red cap.

The matter was reported to the Police and Anadu and his secretary included others were invited at the station, where the victim, Anyanwu collapsed due to their torture and was rushed to the hospital and the secretary fled.

The Police tried to resolve the matter but Anadu was adamant. The Police then found him culpable and charged him before the Court for the alleged offence.

However, he pleaded not guilty.

The Court granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment for three years while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned till 24th November, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
