ECN Boss, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi Advances Talks On Collaboration With Commonwealth Secretary-General Hon. Patricia Scotland KC

Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, the Director-General and CEO of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, met briefly with Rt Hon Patricia Scotland KC, Commonwealth Secretary-General, at the ongoing COP29 Summit in Baku, Azerbaijan.

As a member of Nigeria’s delegation led by the Honorable Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, Dr. Abdullahi had previously attended UNGA 79 in New York earlier this year. There, discussions focused on collaborative opportunities in technology and innovation.

The recent meeting served as a critical follow-up on conversations from UNGA 79, aimed at advancing the established areas of collaboration.

This partnership aligns with Nigeria’s National Development Plan, which prioritizes science, technology, and innovation for economic growth. It is expected to enhance innovations accross energy system applications for key sectors, and strengthen economic growth.

Dr. Abdullahi expressed satisfaction with Secretary-General Scotland’s commitment to supporting countries with significant needs for technological advancement, and he looked forward to impactful collaborations in innovation and energy development.
