G. Elias Commits To Gender Equality Through Strategic CSR Initiatives in Lagos and Abuja

In line with its commitment to creating lasting social impact, G. Elias, a leading Nigerian business law firm, recently organized community outreach activities in Lagos and Abuja to commemorate International Women’s Day 2025.

The initiative included visits to the Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence, Abuse, and Trafficking, Transit Home in Lagos, as well as the Dorothy Njemanze Foundation in Abuja, a haven for survivors of gender-based, sexual, and domestic violence.

Recognising the United Nations’ call for collective action to advance gender equality and support survivors of gender-based violence, G. Elias. outreach aimed to foster empowerment and provide critical resources for survivors and at-risk individuals.

At both shelters, representatives from G. Elias engaged with survivors, offering words of encouragement and emotional support while donating essential items to enhance their well-being.

These efforts align with the 2025 IWD theme, “Accelerate Action,” and reinforce the firm’s dedication to social justice, gender inclusion, and equality. Additionally, the outreach supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), by promoting the protection and empowerment of women and marginalized groups.

Speaking at the event, Nana Dare, Chief Operating Officer at G. Elias emphasized the Firm’s longstanding commitment to gender equality, social justice, and women’s empowerment, highlighting the importance of sustained efforts to create inclusive opportunities for women. 

She said, “At G. Elias we believe that empowering women is fundamental to building a more just and equitable society. Our outreach initiatives, including our visits to these shelters, reflect this commitment. We are also dedicated to fostering economic and social inclusion for women in all spheres of life. Through initiatives like this, we aim to drive real impact by not only addressing immediate needs but also advocating for long-term solutions that promote gender equality, professional advancement, and economic empowerment. We remain steadfast in our efforts to contribute meaningfully to the broader movement for women’s rights and inclusion.”

Hadizah Shittu, Human Resources Executive at G. Elias, reaffirmed the firm’s commitment, stating, “Women’s empowerment and equality are central to our approach, as we believe that true progress comes from ensuring that all individuals, regardless of background, have access to opportunities for growth. Through our community engagement efforts, we aim to make a tangible impact by supporting initiatives that foster resilience, economic empowerment, and long-term development. We remain dedicated to contributing to Nigeria’s socioeconomic advancement and creating lasting change.”

Over the years, G. Elias remains committed to gender equality, social impact, and community development.

In 2024, the firm launched the #SheBlooms program, engaging students at Jubril Martins Memorial Grammar School in Lagos through educational outreach aimed at inspiring young minds to pursue their ambitions.

Additionally, in celebration of its 30th anniversary, the firm organised community outreach activities in Lagos and Abuja, including visits to Lagos Island Maternity Hospital and the Federal Medical Centre Jabi, where financial assistance was provided to women requiring surgery due to post-natal complications.

Similarly, the firm supported students at the Surulere Local Government Institute of Vocational Education by covering registration fees for vocational training programs.

Through these initiatives, G. Elias continues to champion meaningful change by empowering women, fostering inclusion, and supporting community-driven development.
