The recent media attacks on Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi, a renowned human nutritionist and scholar, have taken a new turn. Despite his growing popularity and influence in Imo State, Dr. Amadi has become the target of orchestrated smear campaigns, by persons associated with the state government. These attacks are clearly designed to discredit his reputation and undermine his political movement, the Mazi Organisation.
Dr. Amadi’s recent activities, particularly during the Easter celebration have earned him widespread followership. His decision to pay the school fees of 100 students of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, who worshipped with him at the Anglican Chapel of Light, FUTO, is a testament to his commitment to the body of Christ and welfare of Imolites. Also worthy of mention, was his recent recognition by Catholic Women Organization (CWO) Obike Community in Ngor-Okpala LGA, where Amadi made a donation of 12 million naira for the renovation of community Health Centre. These acts of kindness have touched the hearts of many, and his popularity continues to soar. However, these haven’t gone down well with some political merchants who are threatened by his rising influence.
One Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, an appointee of Governor Hope Uzodimma, who is notorious for fabrication and propagation of dangerous falsehoods, has been at the forefront of these attacks. He has been fabricating falsehoods and using pseudonyms to discredit Dr. Amadi. The latest attack, penned under the pseudonym Clifford Akunnakwe, accuses Dr. Amadi of calling for the abandonment of the Catholic Church and plans to turn churches into nightclubs. What a wicked desperate allegation! This claim is entirely baseless and fabricated. Very unthinkable.
Dr. Amadi has made no such statement, not by himself nor through any person(s) and we challenge anyone to produce evidence to the contrary. As a thoroughbred professional and distinguished scholar, Dr. Amadi is known for his discipline, analytical thinking, and intellectual sophistication. It is unimaginable that he would engage in such profanity. The attempt to pitch the Catholic Church against Dr. Amadi is a desperate move that is dead on arrival.
The government’s failure to address pressing issues like constant insecurity and banditry in Imo State is glaring. While bandits terrorize the Owerri-Aba road and the painful burning of trucks and buildings along Onuimo and Okigwe axis, the government remains speechless. Instead, they’re busy propagating falsehoods and engaging in character assassination. This is a clear indication that the government is more interested in maintaining its grip on power than in serving the people.
Imolites are no longer fooled by such petty sentiments and will verify the credibility of sources and messages. The church will partner with individuals who have a clear vision and humility to make Imo safe again. The days of using the church to blackmail and intimidate opponents are over. The people will see through these schemes and hold those responsible accountable.
The likes of Ambrose Nwaogwugwu should know that time has evolved. Imo State is no longer the same, and the people will not be swayed by baseless attacks and propaganda. The conversation for the 2027 Imo governorship election must be anchored on a new paradigm shift of deep evaluation of issues and character of individuals concerned.
Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi’s popularity and acceptability are a testament to his vision for a better Imo State. His commitment to the welfare of Imolites and his courage to speak out against leadership ineptitude have earned him the respect and admiration of many. The people of Imo State are looking for a leader who will prioritize their security, welfare, and development.
As we approach the 2027 governorship election, the people of Imo State must demand a new kind of leadership. One that is anchored on integrity, humility, and a clear vision for the state’s development. Dr. Amadi’s emergence as a leading candidate is a beacon of hope for many Imolites who are tired of the status quo.
Finally, while these baseless attacks on Dr. Chima Amadi will not deter him from his mission to serve the people of Imo State, we are proud that our activities have kept the Douglas House busy!
Imo State Must Be Safe Again!
