Posted on May 21, 2025

As the July 12 local government elections in Lagos State draw nearer, the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, fondly known as ‘Dullar’, has continued to strengthen community ties through impactful engagement and inclusive leadership.

In a strategic stakeholders’ meeting, he interfaced with traditional, religious, political, and socio-economic leaders to chart the path forward for a united Somolu.

Hon. Dullar, accompanied by Hon. Mike Oikeh and immediate past Chairman, Hon. Gbolahan Bagostowe, presented the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship candidates, Hon. Lateef Ashimi and Taiwo Ojomu, to the stakeholders.

The presentation was widely applauded as a symbol of trust, vision, and continuity in local governance.

In a historic gesture, Hon. Dullar presented brand-new missionary buses to the Somolu Chapters of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the League of Imams and Alfas. The CAN delegation was led by Rev. Father Mark Thomas Tizhe of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, while the League of Imams delegation was led by the Grand Chief Imam of Somolu, Sheikh Boonyamin Olanrewaju Akanbi Dabiri, and Sheikh Bashir Ahmad.

To support the operations and maintenance of the vehicles, the Chairman also made cash donations to both religious bodies.

Prayers were offered by both CAN and the League of Imams, commending the administration’s fairness, vision, and spiritual consciousness.

Also present were traditional rulers (Baales), market leaders including Iyaloja General Chief Mrs. Modupe Olufojude and Babaloja General Chief Adekunle Okueyungbo, and top NURTW leaders led by Chief Kada.

Their presence signified strong grassroots backing for the current leadership.

The Ndigbo Community in Somolu also graced the occasion, reaffirming the multicultural support Hon. Dullar enjoys across ethnic and religious lines.

The event ended with a renewed commitment to peace, development, and collective progress ahead of Lagos 2025.
