Hausa Community In Ebonyi Celebrates Umahi’s Appointment

The Hausa community, popularly known as Ogbe Hausa in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State Capital, was at the weekend abuzz with activities as Northerners living in the state celebrated the appointment of five more Hausa men into the government of Ebonyi State by Governor Dave Umahi.
Governor Dave Umahi had during the week sworn in 171 liason officers with Hausa community in the state generously accommodated.
The appointees are Alhaji Salisu Mohammed (Technical Assistant to the Governor on Herdsmen), Alhaji Haladu Ismail (Technical Assistant to the Governor on Herdsmen), Alhaji Sule Mohammed (Technical Assistant to the Governor on Sports).
Others are Haiya Asmau Gambo (Liason Officer to the governor), Lawal Hamajoda (Liason Officer to the governor).
Spokesman of the appointees, Alhaji Sule Mohammed, said during the celebration that the Hausa community in Ebonyi State had not enjoyed such level of accommodation since the creation of the state.He called on governors of other geo-political zones to emulate Governor Umahi’s politics of accommodation and integration. He added that the governor had by his action demonstrated true patriotism and his belief in one united Nigeria.
“For the first time we have witnessed this kind of benevolence. We feel at home in Ebonyi State. I implore Northern governors to follow this kind of example. I am from Shanon local government area of Kano State but I tell you, I feel like I am at home here. Governor Umahi has demonstrated his faith in the unity of Nigeria. No wonder he is the chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum” he said.
Mohammed further expressed optimism that the appointment of Hausa men as technical assistants on herdsmen would help in fostering a good relationship between the herdsmen, the people and government of Ebonyi State. He promised that they will work hard to help the state government achieve its articulated policies and vision.
