Joy and excitement swept through Ojodu LCDA on Thursday, 5th June, 2025, as residents thronged the Council Secretariat Complex for the Ileya Special Edition of the Subsidized Food Market, organized in partnership with Inspire Lagos.
The initiative, aimed at easing the financial burden of the festive season, offered essential food items — including rice, yam, noodles, vegetable oil, beans, onions, tomatoes, garri, pepper, bread, and frozen chicken — at 50% of their regular market prices.
Over 2,500 residents benefited from the exercise, with transactions processed through an efficient POS system. The event recorded sales above target and received an enthusiastic response from the community residents, many of whom praised the initiative as a timely intervention.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Segun Odunmbaku, emphasized the administration’s commitment to people-focused governance. He noted that the periodic subsidized Food Market by his administration, now expanded through private sector partnerships, is part of his continuous effort to support residents during critical periods.
Residents expressed deep gratitude, hailing Hon. Odunmbaku’s compassionate leadership. Their jubilant faces and heartfelt appreciation reflected the market’s profound impact, reinforcing Ojodu LCDA’s commitment to delivering relief and fostering communal joy, especially in times that matter most to its residents.
