Arik Airline Loses N5m To Suspected Conman

A 47-year old man, Umuna Umuna has been arrested for allegedly defrauding Arik Airline to the tune of about N5m under false pretence in Lagos.
The incident happened at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport where the office was located.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that Umuna approached the management that he will supply him X-Ray machine valued at N5m. It was learnt the company paid him the amount upfront and he agreed to supply on an agreed date in 2016.
However, unknown to the management, Umuna had planned to defraud the company. It was gathered that Umuna obtained the money, bolted away and disconnected every communication link with them.
The matter was reported to the police and Umuna was trailed for two years before he was eventually arrested recently.
P.M.EXPRESS scooped that at the police station, Umuna was asked to refund the money since he did not supply the item but he replied that he had since spent all the money.
He was charged before Isolo Magistrates court for obtaining under false pretense and stealing.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Adeday granted Umuna bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 21 February, 2018.
