Olukoyede’s Leadership Drives EFCC’s Outstanding Electoral Monitoring Across Lagos

Posted on July 12, 2025

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to transparent governance and credible democratic processes by ensuring the proactive deployment of EFCC operatives for election monitoring across Lagos State.

Under his visionary leadership, the EFCC Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 successfully carried out widespread monitoring operations aimed at curbing vote buying and financial inducement across several strategic locations during the 2025 elections.

This operation marked a significant step in reinforcing public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral system.

Leading from the front, the Zonal Director and Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, CE Michael Nzekwe, not only coordinated the strategic deployment of officers but also personally toured polling units across Lagos Island, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Lekki, Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki, and Epe Local Government Area.

His hands-on approach and presence at the grassroots level sent a clear message of accountability, deterrence, and institutional vigilance.

In polling units such as Bonny Camp, Banana Island, Elegushi, Gbangbala Street, Olushi Kakawa, and various locations along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, the Director ensured real-time oversight and officer compliance with EFCC’s non-interference directive.

Across the state, the situation was largely peaceful, with voters commending the EFCC’s presence. Law enforcement agencies on ground welcomed the Commission’s collaboration, noting its critical role in promoting order and discouraging vote trading—a practice that had marred previous elections.

The EFCC reaffirms its mandate to uphold integrity in public life and reiterates its readiness to continue supporting free, fair, and financially credible elections in Nigeria.
