4 Suspected Cultists Nabbed During Meeting In Hotel

Operatives of the Commissioner of Police Tactical Squad, Ikeja, Lagos, have arrested four suspected members of Eiye Confraternity while they were having a meeting in a popular hotel in Lagos State. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects, Oguntoye Mayowa, 32 Afeez Azeez, 29 Sodiq Adeoye, 24 Salami Quadri, 30, were apprehended on the 22nd June, 2025, at Papa Joe’s Hotel, Ikotun area of Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspects assembled at the hotel where they were having a meeting unknown to them that the Police intelligence had information of their activity at the hotel.
The four suspects were arrested while other members of the group managed to escape and are now at large. Those arrested were detained at the State Command for interrogation.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found them culpable and charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for  conspiracy and belonging to secret society under the Criminal Laws of the State.
The charges read:
“That you, Oguntoye Mayowa ‘m’, Afeez Azeez ‘m’, Sodiq Adeoye ‘m’, Salami Quadri ‘m’ and others still at large, on the 22nd day of June, 2025 at about 0815hrs, at Papa Joe’s Hotel, Ikotun area of Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves, to commit felony to wit: unlawful society and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2025.”
COUNT II:”That you, Oguntoye Mayowa ‘m, Afeez Azeez ‘m’, Sodiq Adeoye ‘m’, Salami radri ‘m’ and others still at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did belong to Eiye Confraternity, which is proscribed by law as an unlawful society and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 2(a)(b)(c) of the Unlawful Societies and Cultism of Lagos State Law 2021.”
However, they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted them bail with sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
