Posted on August 23, 2026

The Ogun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has affirmed that Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as “Yayi”, remains the duly recognised governorship candidate of the party for the 2027 general elections.

The clarification was contained in a press statement issued on Saturday, August 23, 2026, by the State Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi.

The statement followed claims by one Abayomi Semako Hunye, who has been presenting himself as the APC governorship candidate in the state.

Chief Sanusi said the party is setting the record straight to avoid confusion among members and the public.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Ogun State APC wishes to state clearly that Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, is the duly recognised governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State for the 2027 election,” the statement read.

According to the party, Senator Adeola emerged from the governorship primary with 304,055 votes out of 305,287 accredited voters who participated in the exercise.

Following his emergence, he nominated Mrs. Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun as his deputy governorship running mate.

The APC Chairman stated that the names of both Senator Adeola and Mrs. Adegunwa-Balogun have been duly submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as the party’s flag bearers for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.

“The names of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola and Mrs. Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun have subsequently been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission as the party’s governorship candidate and running mate for the 2027 election,” he said.

The Ogun APC dissociated itself from any other claim to the ticket and urged members to ignore such declarations.

“The Ogun State APC therefore, dissociates itself from any contrary claim or declaration by Abayomi Semako Hunye or any other individual purporting to be the party’s governorship candidate,” Chief Sanusi stated.

“We urge party members, supporters and the general public to disregard such claims and rely only on official communications from the Ogun State APC and the relevant electoral authorities.”

The statement concluded:
“Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI) is the APC candidate for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.”
