Man, 50, Arraigned For Defiling & Impregnating Girl,13

A 50-year-old married man, Mutiu Arowolo, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly secretly engaging a 13-year old girl in sex and Impregnating her in the process. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that it was the pregnancy that exposed him. He was then arrested and charged before the Court for defilement and impregnating an under aged girl.
A Lagos Magistrate Court sitting in Badagry has ordered his remand following the two count charges preferred against him on defilement and unlawful penetration.
However,  he pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Nurudeen Layeni, ordered his remand at the Nigerian Custodial Centre in Badagry, pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The Court adjourned the matter till 24th September, 2025, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
The Prosecutor, Supol Edet Ekpo, had earlier told the Court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in May, 2025, at Sawmill, Ibereko area of Badagry, Lagos.
“The defendant unlawfully sexually penetrated the little girl’s vagina, which resulted in an unwanted pregnancy. The defendant warned the girl not to tell her parents about it. The pregnancy started showing, and then she told them about the whole incident.”
“The offences contravened the provisions of Sections 137 and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
The defendant risks several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court for the alleged offence under the criminal laws of the State.
