Teams Ready For Afeez Aremu Football Tourney In Lagos

Nine teams are fully ready for the fourth edition of Afeez Aremu Football Tournament tagged ‘Afeez Aremu Cup’

The much anticipated tournament begins on Wednesday morning as Best Talent FC face Browl FA in the qualifying game by 8am at the RVTC mini stadium, Border,Ojodu Berger, Lagos.

A winners between the two sides will meet Magboro FC in the quarter finals stage.

In the other quarter finals pairing scheduled for Friday,Dosu Joseph FC battle Obafortune by 8am,while B: Basic tackle Excel FA by 9:30am.

Action resumes on next Monday as winners between Browl FA and Best Talent will meet Magboro FA by 8am, while Shuffle Select tackle FC Gemstones by 9:30am.

Match coordinator, Joseph Shoyemi told our correspondent that the competition is being sponsored by Afeez Aremu as part of his contributions to support grassroots football development in the state saying that all the participating teams were selected based on their football pedigree that come from Lagos and Ogun states.

He outlined the benefits of the competition and urged the participating teams not to see the annual tournament a do-die affairs.

Shoyemi however disclosed that the organising committee is ready to organise hitch free tournament and thanked the cup donor, Afeez Aremu who chanelled his resources to football development in the state

Meanwhile, Aremu Afeez Olalekan played his professional football with FC Kaiserslautern in Germany, Bundesliga two, he started his youth football with a team in Ibadan before he joined Dosu Joseph FC.

He played several NPFL teams such as Remo Stars, Akwa United before he moved to Europe.While in Europe,he played for Ik Start Norway, St Pauli and played for Flying Eagles of Nigeria.He is presently with FC Kaiserslautern.
