No Arrest Warrant Was Issued Against Senator Uba

Following the publication of a false story that a Federal High Court sitting in FCT, Abuja had issued an order of arrest against Senator Andy Uba, Senator Uba’s media office has debunked the story describing it as false and mischievous.
In a statement issued Friday evening, Uba’s media office described the report as misleading, stating that the court under justice Binta Nyako never granted such an order.
“We read with much dismay the news that a court of law had issued an arrest warrant for Senator Andy Uba, our principal. At first, we decided to ignore the article but on second thought we decided to dispel the rumour for the sake of the records.
From the facts available, we can clearly state that the court under Justice Binta Nyako did not agree with the Anti Corruption and Integrity Forum on its application which sought to compel the Inspector General of Police to arrest and prosecute Senator Uba.
One wonders how you can force the IGP to investigate or arrest Senator Uba for an offence he did not commit. Let us remind Nigerians that the ACIF has been engaged in an unholy act of shielding one Victor Uwajeh, a man who is standing trial on a four count charge bothering on fraud, impersonation and forgery.
The ACIF who are cronies of Uwajeh thought that by approaching the courts to arm twist the IGP, they would have achieved spectacular coup and attract negative publicity to Senator Uba.
Acting in accordance with the law, Justice Nyako denied this application describing it as an abuse of court process, before going on to dismiss the suit itself (FHC/ABJ/CS/175/2018.
We therefore enjoin all Nigerians and supporters of Senator Uba to disregard these reports, we wish to also state that we are consulting our lawyers to see if we can bring suits against some of these media houses who have thrown away the ethics of journalism for brown envelopism”.
