Gerard, Huntonto, Sewa End Lagos Swimming Clinics In Flying Colours

With an intense and rigorous training at the 2025 three-day swimming clinics organized by the Lagos State Aquatic Association, as Dosun Gerard, Friday Huntonto and Monday Sewa demonstrated exceptional performances in the 50m freestyle.
The initiative brought together over 100 potential swimmers from the riverine community tagged “Makoko To the Lanes” as part of the expanded Lagos Coastal Series, with certified coaches on hand who exposed them to the basic techniques and different aspects in the aquatic sport.
Lagos Coastal Series is an avenue created to expose the youngsters at the riverine areas to professional training in swimming, access to standard facilities, equipment and opportunities to improve their skills in the sport.
Gerard, Huntonto and Sewa came first, second and third respectively in the 50m freestyle event.

All the participants received swimming kits, exercise books and other prizes to encourage continued learning and participation.
Coach Christopher Azubuike lauded the initiative, noting that the state is surrounded with a lot of talents but what they need is the pathway for them to achieve whatever goal they have.
He added that those young talents are from the riverine area which means they know how to swim but they need proper structure to be able to do the sport in a professional way.
Daniel Jasper, one of the coaches present and the current head coach of the Takwa-bay swimming club, expressed his satisfaction and happiness in what he witnessed during the duration of the event.
The swimmers commended the organizer, Mrs. Ajagbe Olubunmi for the notable initiative which provides another opportunity for the young swimmers in the state to continue to dominate and sharpening their skills in the sporting industry and Lagos State Government for a good facility.
