The President General of the Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos State, Chief Sunday Udeh, has commented on the State Government’s banning of Ezendigbo by declaring that he has constitutional rights to crown Ezendigbo in the state.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Chief Udeh also admitted that he has crowned numerous Ezendigbo and issued certificates to individuals as leaders in various Local Councils in the State because it is his constitutional right as President of the Community, despite the law of Lagos State.
Chief Sunday Udeh stated this in the voice notes he made and personally circulated on the social media while reacting over a publication where some Igbo Stakeholders blamed him for being the cause of the banning of Ezendigbo by the State Government.
He stated that he had no regrets because he was performing his constitutional duty as the President of Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos State.
Chief Udeh, who is facing trial before the Lagos State High Court, denied the commercialization of the title in the State. He stated that he was the 7th President of the Igbo Speaking Community and before he became the president,  there were other presidents before him and they as well crowned Ezendigbo and issued certificates to them.
He explained that the publication where Ndigbo indicted him was not correct because there are some individuals he did not crown Ezendigbo while admitting that he actually crowned so many Individuals across the Local Councils.
However, Chief Udeh was silent on the issue of issuing of certificate for Obi of Lagos contrary to the Constitution of the Igbo Speaking Community.
Chief Udeh landed in trouble having saturated Local Councils with numerous Ezendigbo before plans of installing Obi Ndigbo in Lagos State. He was said to have issued certificate of recognition to Chief Azubuike as Obi of Lagos as the president of the Igbo Speaking Community despite the fact that the community does not recognize such a title.
