ONC Commends Crackdown On Cultists In Ahoada East

Respected Niger Delta socio-cultural group, the Orashi National Congress, ONC, has commended the late-night security crackdown in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, which left one suspected cult member dead and several others on the run following a fierce gun battle with operatives of the Joint Security Anti-Cultism Task Force (JSATF).
According security sources, the incident at about 11:00 pm when security personnel on routine patrol along the Okoma–Odiabidi–Okporowo Road in Okoma 1 Community intercepted a group of armed. The suspects opened fire immediately on sighting the operatives, triggering an exchange of gunfire. One suspect—believed to be a motorcycle rider within the group—was neutralized, while others reportedly fled with gunshot wounds.
Reacting to the development, the leadership of the Orashi National Congress, ONC, led by Amb Comrade Emeni Ibe, has strongly commended the late night crackdown following their recent calls for stronger security presence in the area.
“The ONC hereby commends the ongoing coordinated security efforts initiated by the Executive Chairmen of Abua-Odual and Ahoada East Local Government Areas. This initiative is very impressive and commendable. We therefore, charge the Council Chairmen to intensify efforts in the bid to protect lives and property in the affected areas.”
“We also urge residents to be very vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements or individuals with gunshot wounds to the nearest security formation. We equally call on the proactive Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, to send his Tactical Team operatives to add higher force to the efforts of the Council Chairmen and completely curb the menace of the criminal elements in the area” the ONC concluded.
