Hon. Ganiyu Johnson Calls For Patience Over Reforms As He Reflects On Journey In Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency

Hon. Engr. Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson, a former House of Representatives member for Oshodi-Isolo constituency in Lagos State has called for patience on the economic reforms of the present administration with the hope things will be better in future.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Hon. Johnson stated this in his office on the state of the nation and commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts towards giving Nigeria a new direction.
While speaking on the economic situation in Nigeria, Johnson expressed concerns over Nigeria’s current security situation, economic challenges and emphasized the need for agricultural development and improved infrastructure in order to address poverty.
He believes that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made efforts, particularly with international cooperation, noting that poverty remains a pressing issue that will be resolved over time with proper implementation and good policies in place.
On Nigeria’s electoral process, he emphasized on the need for transparency, electronic and manual transmission of results where there is no network.
However, he stressed about the importance of citizens obtaining their PVCs and voting in the 2027 election, saying it is crucial for the country’s fate.
He urged Nigerians to actively participate in voting for their preferred candidate and advised Nigerians to hold politicians accountable and vote based on performance, not just party affiliation.
Johnson emphasises the need for electoral reforms and improved governance. He remains optimistic, saying “things will be better” with time in response to the plights of Nigerians.
Hon. Johnson shared insights on his tenure from 2019 to 2023, Nigeria’s economic situation and the electoral process, highlighting notable achievements and pressing challenges facing the country.
Reflecting on his tenure, he highlighted some achievements in education, empowerment, and infrastructure development in the Oshodi-Isolo constituency. He implemented programmes like “Meet Your MP” and “Food for All” and injected over 50 classrooms into schools.
Some of his other achievements in the Oshodi-Isolo Constituency included:
Education
– Constructed/completed over 60 classrooms with toilets and furniture
– Provided over 800 chairs and tables for pupils and teachers
– Distributed over 6,000 textbooks and exercise books
– Established a 20-seater ICT HUB with generator and diesel supply
Infrastructure
– Constructed/rehabilitated over 30 community roads, drainages, and desilting projects
– Developed road networks in Okota, Aiye Junction, Osolo Way, and other areas
– Facilitated community road drainages and desilting in Ago Palace Way and Oke-Afa canal
Empowerment and Employment
– Trained 50 constituents in leadership and management
– Empowered over 2,000 constituents with training and cash grants
– Distributed N100,000 each to 200 constituents and N50,000 each to 300 widows
– Provided fish grilling and preservation training with oven machines and start-up capital
– Distributed 200 motorcycles to youths
Social Amenities
– Provided boreholes in Oboye Street, Alaba Night Market, and other areas
– Conducted medical outreaches, distributed empowerment materials
Other Initiatives
– Monthly “Food4All” package for vulnerable constituents
– Federal Government Grants Project implementation among others.
