Eze Nwoye Dismisses Being Classified As Chief Over Ezendigbo Stool
KINGSLEY EBERE

Igbo traditional leader and Bobaselu of Ejigbo in Lagos, Eze Dr Alex Sunday Nwoye, has dismissed the claims that he is no longer the Igbo traditional leader of Ndigbo in Ejigbo and has reversed to being an ordinary chieftaincy title holder.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Eze Nwoye made the clarification on the heels of rumours on the social media that he was among those who have resorted to chieftaincy titles.
He totally dismissed the claims of being classified as a Chief and declared that he was duly crowned Ezendigbo in Ejigbo and equally duly recognized by his town, Uga, Aguata Local Government area of Anambra State.
Eze Nwoye made the clarification over the purported list of Ndieze who denounced their Ezeship and reversed to chieftaincy titles.
He explained that before he was crowned Ezendigbo as well as Onyendu Ndigbo, he had been given the chieftaincy title as Ochiri Ozua and a member of the prestigious Nze and Ozo title holders as Ozo Duru Ochiriozua since 1987 in his home town, Uga, in Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State.
He stated that after his coronation by the Igbo Speaking Community and Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, he was duly issued a certificate of recognition as Ezendigbo in Ejigbo by Uga traditional ruler, the Obi of Uga, HRH Igwe Chidi Stephen Ezenwugo dated 17th October, 2017.
He explained that both the letter of consent and recognition certificate from the Obi of Uga town were submitted to the BOT of the Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos and he was given another certificate confirming that he was duly crowned as Ezendigbo in Ejigbo.
He further explained that the issue of reversing Ezeship to the purported chieftaincy title does not arise and he was not aware of the list submitted to the Southeast traditional rulers, addressing him as a Chief.
He also stated that the Igbo Speaking Community crowned him Ezendigbo (Onyendu) and Omereoha Ndigbo in Ejigbo Lagos and the certificates was issued to him by the former President of Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos State, Chief Ebere Ubani. He was also given the title as Bobaselu of Ejigbo in 2006 by the Oba of Ejigbo land.
Nwoye urged the members of the public to disregard the information and stated clearly that he still remains Eze Alex Sunday Nwoye (Onyendu) Ndigbo and Bobaselu of Ejigbo land.
