A 42-year old man, Samuel Iniovosa has offered N40,000 as compensation to a 40-year old lady simply known as Miss Tope who he jilted in Lagos to placate for his romps with her.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that it was the outcome of Alternative Dispute Resolution, ADR, before the Isolo Magistrates court where the parties finally agreed to settle their rift.

It was gathered that Samuel started a relationship with Tope when they met at Dada Street in Ilasamaja area of Lagos where they resided. Later, Tope moved in with her belongings and they started living together despite the fact that they were not married.

The relation between the two broke up after Tope started piling pressure on Samuel to go to her parents in order for them to formalize their relationship and she will be known as his wife. She explained to him that age was not on her side and she would like to have her own kids.

However, Samuel refused claiming that he was not ready to marry at that point and besides he had made a promise to another lady. His summation caused serious quarrel between them, to the extent that Tope alleged that Samuel assaulted and injured her.

The matter was reported to the police at Ilasamaja Division, Samuel was arrested and charged to court for assault.

At Isolo Magistrates court where he was arraigned, Samuel pleaded not guilty.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Teluwo granted him bail but he failed to meet the bail condition.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that when the matter was slated for hearing, Samuel urged the court to give him time in order to settle with Tope. His prayer was granted for the parties to settle and come back to give the report of their settlement. It was gathered that Samuel had paid her N25,000 and will have to pay another N15,000 to Tope as agreed.

When the matter came up, the prosecutor, Mr. Oje Augbale asked the court for a short adjournment to see if the parties will finally settle the matter and report to the court.

The bone of contention now remains the university degree certificate which Samuel alleged that Tope had seized and he had pleaded with her to return the certificate. Tope had refused bring back the certificate insisting that he must complete the payment before she will do so.

Though, Samuel has been released from prison custody, the matter was still adjourned for the report of their settlement to be available in court.
