Information reaching PM EXPRESS from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) says Nigeria’s Buruj Sports Academy who are on world tour to play in the TTD International Super Cup in Dubai began their campaign on a bright note.

On Day One of the competition on Tuesday, the Nigerian side walloped Future Stars in their opening game to send a strong warning signal to other group opponents, while their second game of the day against home side TFA of Dubai ended in a goalless draw.

Both Onwe Uchechukwu Emmanuel and Salaudeen Noah score two goals a piece in the highly entertaining encounter to send the spectators who thronged the stadium in to a state of frenzy in a tournament that has the likes of Robbie Fowler Academy, Ronaldo Academy and many other top class football academies from across the globe in attendance.

Speaking after the two opening games, the leader of the contingent who also doubles as the CEO of the Ikorodu-based academy, Salaudeen Waheed, saluted the courage of his boys and promised to win the remaining group game to advance to the next stage.

He also dedicated the resounding victory to the Executive Governor of Lagos, His Excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, whom he described as an excellent performer in governance, most especially in terms of infrastructural and sports development. He admonished Lagosians not to hesitate in giving him their nods and votes for second term.

The tournament which is being organised by Team Tours Direct is first amongst many other international tournaments the team will feature this year. Others include the English Super Cup, the Spanish Cup and London Cup.

Meanwhile, the team’s next group games hold on Wednesday (today) against F & R Events CC and Simsport Eagles respectively.

It would be recalled that the players and officials flew out of the country on Monday aboard Etihad Airlines.
