The Airtel Africa Foundation has released its annual report showing expanded investment in education, digital inclusion, and connectivity programs across its operating markets in Africa during the 2025/26 period.

According to the Foundation, its work during the year focused on increasing access to digital learning tools and internet connectivity for students, while also supporting initiatives aimed at improving digital skills.

Education and connectivity initiatives
The Foundation said it supported the connection of 1,028 schools to the internet during the year, enabling more students to access online educational resources.

The program is delivered in partnership with UNICEF as part of efforts to reduce the digital divide in education.

More than 11 million learners were reported to have benefited from digital learning platforms supported by the Foundation, with content made available at no data cost in several markets.

Skills and community programs
In addition to school connectivity, the Foundation reported support for digital skills training for youth and women in multiple countries.

The programs are designed to provide participants with basic digital literacy and skills relevant to employment and entrepreneurship.

The Foundation also continued community-based initiatives aimed at improving access to education and technology in underserved areas.

Long-term focus
Airtel Africa Foundation said its approach centers on long-term, scalable programs that can be sustained through partnerships with governments, development organizations, and local communities.

The Foundation operates in the 14 countries where Airtel Africa provides mobile services.

“Our goal is to support sustainable access to education and digital opportunity,” the Foundation said in its report. “By working with partners, we aim to reach more learners and communities each year.”

The annual report notes that programs will continue to expand based on local needs, with a focus on measurable outcomes in education access, connectivity, and digital skills development.
