The greatness of Igbo Carnival lies in its power to unite people through culture, music, dance, and shared identity. But for the festival to be truly safe, successful, and impactful, it cannot be planned by one group alone. It must involve everyone.

Under the theme “Igbo Carnival Shared Vision: Collaborating with Municipal Stakeholders for a Safe and Successful Festival” leaders, organizations, and community representatives came together to chart the way forward for Igbo Carnival 2026.

The Governors of Igbo Speaking States have a central role to play. Their leadership, policy direction, and support for security and infrastructure are what make it possible to host a festival of this magnitude in peace and order.

Members of the political class are also critical. Through advocacy, mobilization, and legislative support, they help bring the carnival closer to the people and ensure government presence at every level.

Businessmen and captains of industry provide the strength that sustains big events. Through sponsorships, partnerships, and investments in logistics and innovation, they transform the carnival into an economic engine that creates jobs and grows local businesses.

Our men and women in the diaspora carry the Igbo name across the world. Their involvement brings global visibility, international collaboration, and resources that can position Igbo Carnival as a world-class cultural destination.

Within Igbo Speaking States, our mothers, fathers, youth, and elders are the custodians of tradition. From cultural troupes to market associations, their participation ensures that the carnival remains authentic, vibrant, and true to Igbo heritage.

Security agencies, health teams, and transport unions are essential to the success of the festival. Their early involvement in planning guarantees safety for families and visitors, clean and healthy venues, and smooth movement for the large crowds expected.

The municipal council stressed that stakeholder collaboration must be continuous. It will require regular meetings, joint inspections, and shared responsibility in the lead-up to, during, and after the carnival.

When these groups work together, the benefits go beyond entertainment. We build unity. We create opportunities. We project Igbo culture to the world, and we set a standard for how communities can plan and celebrate together.

Igbo Carnival 2026 is therefore, a call to action. It is a call to Governors, to the political class, to business leaders, to captains of industry, and to Igbo sons and daughters at home and abroad.

The message is simple: this carnival belongs to all of us. When we plan together, we celebrate together. When we invest together, we all benefit together.

Let us make Igbo Carnival 2026 safe, successful, and a true reflection of the strength, pride, and creativity of Ndi Igbo.

The  carnival is being sponsored by Zenith Bank Plc, while Mrs. Evelyn Okere Onyung is the Convener, Ndigbo Worldwide Cultural Carnival
