Gov Soludo Calls Marriage A Sacred Covenant, Urges Reorientation Of Nigerian Youths

The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has described marriage as a divine institution established by God for the fulfilment of His purpose for humanity, while issuing a strong call for value reorientation among Nigerian youths.

Speaking on Saturday at the wedding ceremony of Dr. Adaeze Onyido and Emmanuel Nwachukwu in Abuja, Governor Soludo, represented by High Chief Emeka Okonkwo (Omenyi Nibo), emphasised that marriage remains a sacred institution with a significant role in building families and societies founded on enduring values.

The Governor used the occasion to challenge Nigerian youths to embrace hard work, discipline and other virtues capable of preparing them for responsible family life and productive citizenship.

“Societies must deliberately cultivate values that would produce quality individuals capable of building strong families and contributing meaningfully to national development,” Soludo said.

The wedding, held at Holy Cross Church, Gwarimpa, Abuja, brought together prominent Nigerians from politics, public service, business and traditional institutions to celebrate the union of Dr. Adaeze Onyido, daughter of Igwe Pharm. Alex Onyido of Ogidi, and Emmanuel Nwachukwu.

Governor Soludo congratulated the parents of the bride, Igwe and Lolo Onyido, while praying that the newly married couple would enjoy a blissful union blessed with love, peace and mutual understanding.

The ceremony, which featured a Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Victor Lila, drew an array of dignitaries including Senator Tony Nwoye, Professor Obiora Okonkwo, former Minister of Women Affairs Iyom Josephine Anenih, and former DSS Director-General Mr. Ita Ekpeyong, among others.
