Comrade Dauda Celebrates Yoruba Tennis Club At 100, Commends Legacy Of Service To Lagos

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has joined prominent thought leaders, public officials, captains of industry and members of the Yoruba Tennis Club to celebrate the club’s centenary anniversary.

The celebration, held on Tuesday at the Yoruba Tennis Club ground to mark its 100 anniversary, featured an anniversary lecture, the unveiling of the Club’s history books, a foundation-laying ceremony for its proposed legacy building, and an exhibition of historical and archival materials.

During the event, Comrade Dauda exchanged pleasantries with members of the club and reflected on its longstanding contributions to the social, cultural and civic development of Lagos.

He commended the club’s rich historical heritage, noting that its contributions to sporting development, community building and fellowship should be preserved for future generations.

Comrade Dauda urged members to continue nurturing the values of unity, excellence and service that have sustained the institution over the years.

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in his lecture, emphasised the importance of preserving national heritage and the role of social institutions in nation-building.

The Chairman of the Yoruba Tennis Club, Chief Olawunmi Gasper, described the centenary as a testament to the club’s ability to remain relevant across generations.
