Promasidor Nigeria has reinforced its commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable business operations with the launch of a new digital platform, the Eco Alert App, designed to place sustainability action directly in the hands of its employees.
The innovative app was officially unveiled during the company’s Sustainability Day 2026 employee engagement event held at its Lagos head office. The platform is built to enable employees across all functions and locations to report sustainability-related issues, flag inefficiencies, and support the timely resolution of environmental concerns within the workplace.
According to the company, the launch of the Eco Alert App represents a significant shift in its sustainability approach, moving from a top-down model to a more inclusive, participatory culture where every employee has a voice and a role to play in building a more resource-efficient organisation.
The core philosophy behind the initiative is that true sustainability cannot be achieved through policies and corporate targets alone. It requires the active involvement, awareness, and daily actions of the people who drive the business. With the Eco Alert App, Promasidor is providing a simple, accessible, and dedicated channel for employees to contribute ideas, report leakages, energy waste, improper waste disposal, and other areas needing improvement.
Speaking at the Sustainability Day celebration, the Chief Technical Officer of Promasidor, Mr. Brighton Ochieng, took employees through the company’s sustainability journey, acknowledging both the milestones recorded and the challenges encountered along the way.
He revealed that the company’s deliberate focus on resource efficiency has continued to yield impressive results. He disclosed that Promasidor has achieved a 30 percent reduction in paper usage year-to-date in 2026, a feat driven by digitization, adoption of paperless processes, and improved employee consciousness.
Ochieng further noted that the company has also made notable progress in optimizing water and energy consumption across its operations. Through improved operational approaches and employee-led efficiency measures, Promasidor has strengthened its resource management system while recording multimillion Naira in cost savings this year alone.
He emphasized that these results clearly demonstrate that sustainability is not just an environmental obligation, but a smart business strategy that drives operational efficiency, reduces waste, and delivers tangible financial value.
Also speaking at the event, the Packaging and Sustainability Manager, Mr. Solomon Makanjuola, highlighted emerging global sustainability trends and the increasing importance of sustainable practices to long-term business resilience. He charged employees to be more intentional about their everyday choices, both at work and beyond, noting that small consistent actions collectively create significant environmental impact.
A major highlight of the Sustainability Day event was the recognition of employees and departments that have championed sustainable practices. The Heat Factory team received special commendation for fully adopting a paperless process in its operations, a move that has contributed meaningfully to the company’s paper reduction target and serves as a model for other units.
The event also featured an engaging sustainability quiz that tested employees’ knowledge on environmental issues, waste management, and energy conservation, helping to reinforce key learnings from the day in a fun and interactive manner.
The programme ended with a collective pledge by attendees to become sustainability ambassadors, committing to embrace and promote eco-friendly practices not only within the workplace but also at home and in their wider communities.
With the introduction of the Eco Alert App and sustained progress in resource efficiency, Promasidor is deepening its culture of sustainability, where employees are empowered not just as observers, but as active participants in identifying challenges, driving solutions, and building a more sustainable future for the business and society.
