Abia State Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting Federal institutions and projects in the State, stressing that the ultimate beneficiaries of government interventions are the people.
Governor Otti stated this on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, when the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Dr. Binyerem Ukaire, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to him.

The Governor gave the assurance while responding to the Federal Information Centre’s request for assistance with its office accommodation challenge. He directed the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, to work with relevant authorities to identify suitable accommodation for the Centre.
“We don’t discriminate between Federal agencies and State agencies. Neither do we discriminate between Federal projects and State projects because, at the end of the day, the beneficiaries are the people living in the State,” Governor Otti said.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to cooperation with Federal institutions, irrespective of their ownership, noting that everyone residing in Abia deserves equal consideration.
Governor Otti cited the State Government’s interventions at the Nigerian Navy College of Accounts and Finance, Owerrinta, and the Nigerian Air Force facility in Abia as examples of its support for Federal institutions.
Earlier, Dr. Ukaire commended the Governor’s achievements in infrastructure, road construction, public sector reforms, healthcare, education, environmental management, workers’ welfare and public financial management. She particularly highlighted the Nnenna Otti Bus Terminal and the introduction of electric buses.

The Permanent Secretary also appreciated the State Government’s cordial relationship with the Federal Information Centre, noting that its participation in Government House Press Corps activities had strengthened the dissemination of information on Abia’s policies, programmes and development initiatives.
She appealed to the State Government to assist the Centre with suitable office accommodation to improve its operational efficiency and reaffirmed its commitment to accurate, timely and responsible public information dissemination.
Dr. Ukaire was accompanied by the Head of the Federal Information Centre, Mrs. Gloria Abiakam. Other officials present included the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu; the Governor’s media aides; and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Sir Chris Onwuegbu.
