The hope of getting stable and 24 hours of electricity service supply for consumers in near future in Nigeria may not be feasible following a shocking  revelation by a  renewable energy researcher and expert, Prince Timothy Okedele in Lagos.
Okedele revealed that the electricity distribution companies in the country are politicising electricity distribution and told the stakeholders such stability may not be possible because average Nigeria cannot pay more than between N2,000 and N3,000 electricity bill and therefore should not expect stable supply.
Okedele, who is the  Managing Director of Prince AdeS Oke Int’l Ventures, said those who are managing electricity in Nigeria are totally ignorant of the sector.
He said though, most stakeholders were shock, he was not because he had observed in the past the excuses given such as vandalisation of gas pipeline was not tenable because we have other sources of energy supply that ought to be exploited.
Okedele said one of the greatest challenges facing the sector is the managers inability to  know the quantity of energy we need because there is no comprehensive audit report on energy in Nigeria.
He suggested that Nigeria should start afresh by first engaging in comprehensive energy audit from homes, companies, local governments and states in Nigeria to know the quantity needed.
He said this will enable the managers to actually know the quantity and make addition needed so that they can plan ahead. With that, the issue of epileptic power supply will be a thing of the past.
Okedele however commended the efforts of the Minister of Power, Housing and Works, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, who has been making great strides to grow the sector.

He suggested that there is need to monitor and put right people in the sector for efficiency.
Okedele also pat the minister in the back for listening to the voice of Nigerians, especially the experts and the non experts on energy matter, on audit.
He said he was willing to assist and bring more ideas on how the audit will positively impact on energy improvement in Nigeria.
He urged the minister to be protective of Nigerian electricity consumers particularly as the stakeholders in the sector seem desperate to surcharge consumers in order to meet government requirement and to protect their investment in a sector which they now refer to as ‘black Box’.
On the assertion of the power minister that the nuclear plant adoption will make it easier for Nigeria to explore renewable sources of energy in addition, Okedele assured that his organisation, apart from being Africa’s exclusive agent and representative to the inventor of the nuclear replacement plant, is also capable of generating 9600 mega watts in two years.
He said he was ready to deploy all the renewable energy technologies  and expatriates from Brazil, China, Korea, Singapore, USA, India and Russia to support the Minister for a successful power security, energy conservation, comprehensive power audit and injection of more power through renewable energy technology to the national grid.
