It was double jeopardy for a 14-year old girl after she was defiled and severally raped by her biological father in Lagos and thereafter the father gave her out to his friend as wife to cover the shame.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the victim who is now heavily pregnant had been rescued by the police and kept at a protective custody for rehabilitation.

The father of the victim, Mr. Olawole Ibitoye and the so called husband, Mr. Moses Okrukpe has been arrested for defilement and forced marriage of the under aged girl.

They were arrested and paraded by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edagal at the State Command, Ikeja, Lagos.

While parading the suspects, the police boss noted that it was obvious that the victim suffered serious trauma in the hands of her father who sexually abused her.  He said that when the father was done with her, he married her off to Mr. Moses Okrukpe who now got her pregnant.

The CP said that the cat was let out of the bag when the victim became pregnant and was in labour for many days without being able to deliver the baby. He said that she was then taken to a trado-medical home where she confessed that her father had been sleeping with her before he forced her into marriage with Moses Okrukpe in order to cover his tracks and the shame. CP Edgal noted that it was a case of child marriage, rape and exploitation of the highest order and said that the suspects will definitely be charged to court.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the father confessed that he had slept with the victim but did not know what came over him to do so. He said that when he realised that what he was doing was evil, he gave her to his friend Moses as wife. Mr. Moses on his part also admitted that it was the victim’s father that gave her to him as wife and he did not know that it was an offence to marry an under aged girl.
