A 19-year old, Habeeb Dosunmu, has landed in trouble after he engaged in robbery by using a pair of scissors to dispossess a lady of valuables in their area in Mushin, Lagos.

The incident happened at Mushin Road by Eleja bus stop in Itire area of Lagos where he accosted one Ikuni Rita, brought out the scissors and knife, robbed her and escaped.

However, Rita recognised him and later reported the incident to the police. The police trailed, arrested and detained him at the Itire Division. The police also recovered the scissors as exhibit and charged him for armed robbery because of the weapons he used during the operation.

When Dosunmu was initially arrested, he thought it was a minor offence until he was charged before the Ogba Magistrates court for the alleged offence.
The prosecutor, Inspector Ekadu Edet, informed the court that the matter was a case of armed robbery because the defendant used weapons for the operation. He was denied bail.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. K.O. Ogundare, ordered Dosunmu to be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail and directed the prosecutor to send his file to DPP for advice.
The matter has been adjourned till 20th September, 2018.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that if the DPP confirms and finds the Dosunmu culpable for armed robbery, then the matter will be transferred to the High Court for felony.
That invariably means that if he was found guilty, he will have to spend longer number of years in prison for the offence he thought to be a minor one in the first instance.
