Update: Lagos Proposes 5 New Cineplex Across The State

The entertainment in Nigeria, especially the movie sector, is set to witness a significant attention in 2017 as the Lagos State government is planning a five standard community theatre complex across the five division of the state.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that as part of the plans of the state to develop the tourism and entertainment potentials of the state, a handsome chunk would be committed to build the cinemas as well as embark on the construction of a museum in Ikeja, Lagos.

While presenting his “Year 2017 Golden Jubilee Budget” to the State House of Assembly on Tuesday, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode hinted that the state government has budget a whopping estimate of N512.46bn for capital expenditure in a year that Lagos will be celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The state in 2017 budget has a Capital Expenditure of N512.46 billion and a Recurrent Expenditure of N300 billion: a 63 per cent – 37 per cent capital to recurrent ratio proposal.

Five new stadia and a flyover bridge at Pen Cinema are also among major projects the state would embark upon in 2017.
