Posted on January 23, 2019
Yesterday, Rt Hon Martins Azubuike on behalf of his principal, Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, played host to two important groups who endorsed their candidature and the All Progressives Congress in Abia State (APC), for 2019 governorship election.
In the absence of Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah who was away in Abuja for an important meeting, Rt Hon Martins Azubuike, his running mate, received in audience a group of eminent Abia pensioners who came to declare their support for their election bid. Their message was simple, “we are here to tell Ogah that pensioners in Abia State and our entire family members are for him and his running mate. We will mobilize our people to vote for the APC because we believe in their plan for Abia State. We know Ogah’s story and we know what he and his running mate can do. We are confident that when they come into power Abia pensioners will smile. We are old enough to know those that will treat us well and we are sure Ogah is one of them”
Rt Hon Martins Azubuike thanked them for the confidence they have in Uche Ogah and himself and he assured them that they will be taken care of when APC takes over power in the state.
Again Hon Martins Azubuike was in Ohafia Local government area to represent Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah at a special assembly organised by the Ezumezu Ohafia, under the umbrella of Ohafia General Assembly (OGA), at the instance of Mr Paul and Mr Peter Okwara.
Ohafia General Assembly (OGA) (ezumezu ohafia), a none partisan group representing  every clan in the ancient kingdom says they took a decision to vote for Uche Ogah and Martins under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) because they believe they are the best combination for Abia State. Furthermore, they stated that their decision was based on the  experiences they have had with the PDP led government in the last 20 years. According to Mr Okwara Caleb, the spokesman for the assembly, “we have rejected the PDP because they represent backwardness in Abia State. We chose to support APC because APGA lacks the capacity to win this election. The last time we voted for APGA they couldn’t protect our vote. This time we have decided that the whole of Ohafia will vote for APC because we believe in Uche Ogah as a person and we know for sure that APC has the capacity to protect our votes. Beyond that, Uche Ogah and his deputy has the best development plan for Abia State and it is in our best interest to support them. We know Uche Ogah, some of our people are employed in his company and many Abia indigens can testify of how good he has been to people in this state”
Mr Okwara Caleb who was APGA LGA chief agent in the last governorship election in Abia State emphasised that “Ohafia do not want to work and not get result. We want the people we will vote for and we will get to power. Our people have given the political leadership in Ohafia the mandate to align with APC all the way”
Rt Hon Martins Azubuike thanked Ohafia General Assembly for adopting the All Progressives Congress (APC). He told the people to be hopeful because the time for Abians to rejoice is now. According to him, “Uche Ogah is coming to lay a Godly foundation by dedicating this state to God. We will provide jobs for our youths and open up our economy. Golden Guinea will be revitalised. Ceramics Umuahia, Aba Textiles, Enyimba Hotels, Glass Industry and many other moribund industries will come back to life and we are bringing new investors to establish more companies across Abia State so that we can create jobs for our youths”
Rt Hon Martins Azubuike also said that “the business community has promised to relocate back to Abia State when APC comes to power. Local government farms will be revitalised. We will make Red oil our own crude oil because it is even more income generating than the fossil fuel everybody is killing themselves for”
In addition he said, “Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah is bringing back Public Works Department. Just like we used to have PWD those days. They will be responsible for maintaining our roads and it will be an avenue to engage our youths. This is why we are also determined to bring back quality technical education. The standard of learning we will be setting in our technical schools will be such that our youths on graduating from them can get employment anywhere in the world. They will have the kind of skills technicians in advance countries have, we will no longer need people from Togo to build beautiful houses and our youths who can’t get white collar jobs will have something good to fall back on to feed their families and help us grow our economy”
“Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah has also made it clear that he is going to reform our entire education system to help our young ones improve mentally, physically, morally and spiritually. We will improve the quality of their learning environment, there will be student loans and bursary, their will be vocational trainings and  entrepreneurial trainings and apprenticeships development centres. We will modernise our markets and build owner occupy malls. We will look after our women and children and we will encourage our youths who has talents”
“These things are not difficult to achieve. Abia State has the money and there are funders who are only looking for a credible government. Give us two years and we will show you that Abia State can move forward. We have better potentials when compared to neighbouring states like Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambara or even Imo. Amongst these states it is only Imo state that gets higher federal allocation than Abia. Yet we have other things that they don’t have. We don’t have a reason not to make progress”
Rt Hon Martins Azubuike concluded by urging them to vote massively for the All Progressives Congress (APC), promising that it will be the beginning of a journey into a future that Abians will be proud of.
He was accompanied by Chief Otta Kalu (OTK), Dr Ejike Orji and the Special Adviser To Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah on Media, Great Imo Jonathan.
