Police Recover Ammunition Inside Bag Of Garri

The Police in Lagos have uncovered another way arms and ammunition are being smuggled into the country after it recovered cache of ammunition hidden inside a bag of Garri enroute Onitsha, Anambra State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports as was disclosed by the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana. He said that on 24th July, 2019, at about 11.15am, Satellite Town Police Station received information from a credible source, that a bag containing suspicious items was smuggled into a motor park for onward transfer to Onitsha, Anambra State by unknown persons.
Elkana said based on the information, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Chike Oti, deployed his surveillance team to the motor park at Maza Maza to recover the bag.
Upon searching the bag, 50 rounds of .38mm live ammunition hidden inside the garri dust were recovered.
A lady, who claimed that the bag was given to her by a man at Ojo area of Lagos to deliver to someone at Onitsha, was arrested and she is helping the Police with useful information.
He said that the case has been transferred to FSARS at Ikeja Police Command for further investigation and investigation is ongoing.

P.M.EXPRESS investigation revealed that smugglers had been bringing cache of arms from the neighbouring countries into Nigeria but the security agents have been detecting various means they used in bringing the arms and ammunition before the latest discovery was made. So far, the members of the syndicate involved are still at large except the unidentified lady, who was arrested with the items now in Police custody for further investigation.
